A very old screening award notification poster from over 25 years ago. The Divine Comedy was shot on 16mm using a bulky WWII Arriflex BL film camera (and a clockwork Bolex for the title sequence). The 25 minuet film was shot entirely around a (then) crumbling and apocalyptic Brick Lane, London in 1987. The late Free Cinema film director Lindsay Anderson (Every Day Except Christmas, IF….)  found the film “Menacing, disturbing, disturbed…”. Shot and directed by a rather “angry” young Atters.
